Arnav Verma – Managing Partner

Arnav is an economist and analyst focused on financial forecasting, operational strategy, and quantitative analysis. Drawing on experience across public finance, private operations, and investment management, he founded Northern Analysis to provide institutional-grade expertise to Alaskan organizations requiring deeper analytical capacity. He and his team provide teams with senior analyst support and develop custom financial planning and technology solutions to help organizations succeed.

Alongside his work with Northern Analysis, Arnav serves as an economist for the State of Alaska. He leads the Department of Revenue’s fiscal planning efforts, designing the models used to forecast state finances under current and alternative fiscal structures. He develops analysis supporting petroleum and non-petroleum tax policy decisions, revenue forecasting models, and evaluation of current and proposed commercial projects throughout the state.

Before moving into public economics, Arnav worked in the operational core of Alaska’s economy. As a maritime operations manager, he led petroleum import and export operations in Anchorage and Valdez, and cruise ship operations in Whittier, Seward and Kodiak. He later served as a procurement officer for the Municipality of Anchorage, purchasing and contracting in support of all 31 city departments.

He began his career at Morgan Stanley, where he advanced to become the lead portfolio analyst for a $3 billion portfolio at one of the nation’s top wealth management groups. During his tenure, he executed over $200 million in new investment activity, and led the team’s data analysis, market research, and financial reporting projects.

Arnav graduated from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business through the honors program. Outside of work, he enjoys backcountry skiing, rock climbing, ice climbing, and picking up the occasional jazz piano gig at local Anchorage haunts.

Ziona Rose – Senior Partner

Ziona Rose is an environmental scientist and analyst with experience in technical sales strategy, quantitative research, and field operations. Her work spans climate resilience projects, environmental monitoring systems, and remote operations in Alaska and beyond. She helps organizations interpret complex environmental data and turn it into practical proposals, cost estimates, and technology solutions.

Alongside her research work, Ziona serves as a Technical Sales Specialist and Field Coordinator for beadedstream in Anchorage. In this role, she develops proposals and budget forecasts for environmental monitoring systems and supports the planning needed to deploy telemetry networks in challenging field conditions. She works closely with clients and technical teams to review project needs, recommend appropriate product configurations, and support accurate, cost-effective deployments.

Before moving into technical sales and private-sector operations, Ziona worked in the global sustainability sector. As an analyst for the Center of Applied Studies in Edolo, Italy, she contributed to the EU-funded Mount Resilience Project, conducting research and data analysis to support climate action planning for eight regional demonstration areas. She completed more than 300 literature and data reviews and collaborated with international teams to prepare reports and weekly stakeholder presentations.

Ziona began her career in data-intensive field research. As a technician for the National Ecological Observation Network (NEON) in Fairbanks, she contributed to DoD-funded research examining pathogens released through permafrost thaw. For this work, she received the Outstanding Performance Award from Battelle Memorial Institute.

Ziona graduated from Whitworth University. Her university experience includes attending COP29, the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference, and presenting invasive species research at the Spokane Intercollegiate Research Conference. Outside of her analytical work, she is an experienced outdoor leader who has guided backcountry expeditions throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
